With 'Seventeen' Magnus London have shown how a 1950s council house can be transformed into a stunning contemporary home. They have taken this unloved product of the post-war housing shortage and, with a lot of love and attention to detail, made a home that is both elegant and comfortable.
The transformation has been bold - marked by the decision to paint the house black and finish the openings to the front with acid yellow glazed windows. By radically re-working the way the house works they have created a space to be enjoyed.
All the living areas have been moved to the back and a fully glazed exterior wall brings the landscaped garden in. Internal glazing ensures you are never short of light or views. Luxurious finishes and even the fireplace at the heart of the living area make this a home you don't want to leave.
